Good Afternoon Band Directors,
We are looking forward to welcoming all of you this coming Saturday, October 15th, for the March on the Brandywine Competition at Unionville High School!
Attached to this email please find:
1) The Participating Bands Schedule with staging and performance times.
2) A map of our campus showing the entrance to Unionville High School for cars/spectators and the entrance
to the Charles F. Patton Middle School for buses, trucks, and trailers. Also, the location of the warm-up fields for
bands and color guards. Warm-up is limited to these fields for purposes of noise control into the performance
stadium.
4) An aerial photo showing the flow of bands in the stadium: green shows the entrance and red shows the exit.
5) Concession Stand menu.
6) Driving directions to Unionville High School
Bus Entrance – Band Hosting:
When your buses arrive at the Charles F. Patton Middle School entrance at 760 Unionville Road, Kennett Square, PA, our band hosts will greet you and will have a band packet ready for your group. We plan to then place a student with one of your buses while the buses proceed to the drop-off area. Our band host students will lead you to the bathrooms, to your trucks/trailers, and on to the warm-up areas. The students will return to your group to remind you about your gate time and will escort you to the performance staging area.
Trucks/Trailers:
Trucks/trailers will also enter at the Charles F. Patton Middle School entrance and will be flagged directly to the parking area in front of the middle school, or along the connector road between the middle school and the high school.
Warm-Up Location:
We have 3 fields between Route 82/Unionville Road and the access road in the back of the middle school designated for marching band warm-up areas. The location of these fields ensures that noise from the warm-up area does not float into the performance stadium. On the right side of the access road is a designated field area for color guard warm-ups. Please do not play on any fields other than those 3 designated for marching band warm-ups.
Field Entrance:
For the movement of bands on and off the performance field, we have one gate for entering and exiting bands. There will be an infield crew directing band movement. If you could be so kind as to adhere to the times listed in the attached Participating Band Schedule it helps greatly with the flow and movement.
Hospitality:
The hospitality area for directors/staff/bus drivers is located to the right of the Gym Entrance of the high school.
Infield Offering:
We will have a concession stand with a full menu (attached), as well as Candy Grams and a Bake Sale.
Drum Major/Student Leader Retreat:
Drum Majors/Student Leaders should line up in the end zone where you entered for your performance prior to Towson University’s performance at 12:45pm.
In Case of Emergency on Day of:
Please contact Eddie Otto (UHS Band Director) at (484) 798-5954, Christina Hack (UMBB) at
(610) 715-4378 or Debora Ehlers (UMBB) at (610) 357-4840.
See you this Saturday!

March on the Brandywine
October 15, 2022
Dear Band Directors,
Unionville High School is looking forward to welcoming you in a few short weeks to our Cavalcade/US Band competition “March on the Brandywine” taking place on Saturday, October 15th. On behalf of our Band Director, Eddie Otto, we are requesting the below information that will help us plan the day. Please email your responses by Wednesday, September 28th to abirney72@gmail.com.
Attached is also a preliminary Show Schedule with band performance times. As we get closer to the event you will receive more information with details such as the schedule with staging times, a map of our campus, the concession menu, etc.
This year we will be offering clinics partnered with West Chester University and Towson University following the Cavalcade show and before the USBands show. This is a free offering and we would love to have all bands attend! Your band members are welcome to just attend the clinics and not the second show, or they can also stay through for the USBands show that evening. Regardless, it is all free!
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or we can be of assistance.
We very much look forward to your arrival on October 15th!
Thank you,
UHS Marching Band Boosters
