Thursday, May 1st

Scheduled Events:

  • Indoor Percussion Preliminaries - 11:22pm

 

Notes from Wildwood:

  • Had a great bus ride to Wildwood  - watched movie on bus

  • Got to rest stop early and had late breakfast instead of lunch.

  • Unloaded food and luggage from bus - settled into rooms

  • Colorguard went to Rec center for late afternoon practice, lead by Mr Hilborn

  • Percussion practiced all afternoon in hotel parking lot

  • Chaperones had 'cookout' indoors (too cold to eat outside today!) with burgers and hotdogs (kids were hungry and ate good!)

  • Colorguard had free evening, most went for a walk on the boardwalk

  • Percussion continued to prepare for preliminaries later in the evening

  • Indoor Percussion headed to Convention Center at 10:10pm, along with everyone else!

  • Percussion performed a great show - scored a 94.1, just one tenth of a point behind Triton....!

  • Whitehall goes on second out of three at finals on Saturday.

  • Arrived back at rooms around 12:45pm...snacks and lights out by 1:15pm

  • Whew what a day!

Friday, May 2nd

 

Scheduled Events:

  • Indoor Colorguard Preliminaries - 6:43pm

 

Notes from Wildwood:

  • Got to sleep in a little longer today - wake up was 8am, breakfast at 9am

  • Had a hearty pancakes and sausage breakfast!

  • Percussion practiced in morning on parking lot

  • Colorguard took a long morning walk on the beach, hunted for shells and waded into the ocean then a continued walk on the boardwalk

  • Took a break for a deli lunch in chaperone suite

  • Colorguard headed to the Wildwood Recreation Center  for a stretching session and rehearsal

  • Percussion wrapped up practice and we all walked to Convention center

  • Colorguard performed their hearts out in the convention center, scored an 83.7, putting them 4th place in the finals!!!!!

  • Came back and enjoyed a home-cooked dinner including  chicken, corn and mac-n-cheese. Topped the evening off with Italian ice, donated by Rollies Ice Cream!!

Saturday, May 3rd

 

Scheduled Events:

  • Indoor Percussion Finals - 5:29pm

 

Notes from Wildwood:

  • Early morning wakeup for chaperones to make bacon!

  • Everyone enjoyed a full breakfast of bacon and eggs, assorted fruit, cereals, hash browns, etc.

  • Colorguard worked on the scrapbooks for their Directors, Todd and AJ.

  • Percussion practiced all morning in preparation for the afternoon finals.

  • Served a full lunch including ziti, spaghetti and meatballs, salad and assorted Italian sides.

  • After lunch, colorguard had free time on the boardwalk to shop...a few girls made their W.I.P.E. shirts in support of the percussion finals that evening.

  • Loaded up percussion and headed to convention center

  • Watched percussion perform against Quakertown and Triton.

  • Colorguard headed to Rec Center for an evening practice

  • Percussion returned to hotel for a fun taco dinner!

  • Colorguard also enjoyed dinner when they returned a bit later.

  • A few members of the percussion group spent some time on the boardwalk purchasing 'bling' and assorted souvenirs.

  • Everyone loaded up on the bus at 11pm and headed to convention center for the Percussion awards full retreat.

  • Watched United Percussion's final performance...including the now famous tri-axis drummer!!

  • All the percussion groups finally made their way to the floor and awards began...

  • Awards for Scholastic World Concert Percussion were finally announced......3rd place......with a score of  92.9....Quakertown!.....2nd place.....with a score of 95.8.....Triton!.......and first place....and the 2008 All Chapter Champions.......with a score of 96.4.......Whitehall!

  • Everyone returned to hotel at around 1am....

  • Percussion met with Mr Roman for the presentation of their medals.

  • Colorguard packed up and worked on hair straightening.

  • Lights out at 1:30am!!  Whew!

Sunday, May 4th

 

Scheduled Events:

  • Indoor Colorguard Finals - 11:38am

 

Notes from Wildwood:

  • Very early wakeup for Colorguard (6:30am!) to get hair ready and eat

  • Great continental breakfast for all

  • Colorguard headed to Rec Center for 2 hour practice before finals

  • Percussion group unloaded truck, re-packed equipment and then loaded up truck for the trip home

  • Everyone heads to Convention center for Colorguard finals competition!!

  • Colorguard performs their best ever show - cross your fingers!

  • Everyone takes a break on the boardwalk for some lunch and shopping

  • Colorguard heads back to convention center to watch some of the other competing groups

  • everyone arrives at convention center at 3:30pm for Colorguard final awards and retreat

  • Scores are announced for Colorguard Scholastic Intermediate A groups....

  • 5th place is.....not Whitehall........, 4th place is.......not Whitehall......3rd place is......NOT Whitehall...........2nd place.......with a score of 89.1.....WHITEHALL HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR COLORGUARD!!!!!

  • Everyone heads to back of convention center to congratulate the colorguard!....1st time they ever placed in the top 3 at Championships!!

  • Colorguard heads out to celebrate and change into street clothing

  • Everyone gets on the bus to head for home....what a great long weekend!!

  • Quick stop at the rest stop for dinner then continue home

  • Arrived at McArthur Road and were greeted by a full police and fire engine escort to the school!!!

  • Final equipment unpacking at the Middle School then everyone heads home for well-deserved night sleep....... :)
