Nov 17th Percussive Arts Society International Convention! Between Wednesday, November 11th and Sunday, November 15th, The Percussive Arts Society held their International Convention in Indianapolis Indiana. PASIC showcased over 150 events, seminars, clinics and shows featuring many of the world's best musicians on drumset, orchestral percussion, keyboard, and world percussion. Also, more than 115 exhibitors showcased their latest percussion gear, instruments, publications and services. As a full  member of the Percussive Arts Society, Steven Crammer, a Whitehall High School student, attended many of the drum set clinics and master classes to further enhance his skills in the percussive arts as part of his ultimate career goals. Nov 16th MZB at Parkland and Wyoming Valley West Games Nov 16th New Season Kickoff of Indoor Guard and Percussion Indoor Guard and Percussion groups are organizing for the 2009/2010 season. Indoor Guard will be directed by Ms. Jamee Kappes. Many guard members have already signed up but if you would like to join the Guard, please contact Ms. Kappes or Mr Tanzos. Indoor Percussion will be directed by Mr Mike Nederhood. There will be an informative meeting for students interested in Indoor Guard on Monday, November 23rd at 3pm in the band room. If you cannot attend the meeting, please notify Mr Tanzos in advance.
Oct 31th MZB Wraps up Season at Northern States Championships! Oct 31th Join us for the annual LUNCH WITH SANTA! On Saturday, December 12th, come join us and have lunch with Santa! Play games, do crafts, get your picture with Santa and have a great lunch! NOTICE: All kindergarten and 1st grade students who purchased tickets can pick them up the day of the event! We are looking for volunteers to help with the following: To volunteer, please email jeffcrammer@whitehallmusic.com We are also asking for donations of the following: (dropoff box in Bandroom) Christmas Decorations Basket Raffle - New Holiday Decorations, Housewares, Winter Items, etc. Small, new items for Little Shoppers Shop
We also are requesting baked goods (cookies, cupcakes, brownies) as desert for our little guests. Please bring deserts to the Middle School between 9am and 10:30am. Oct 24th Whitehall Weathers Storm for Home Show! With the weather taking a turn for the worst, The Whitehall Music Parents, volunteers and MZB members pulled together and moved the show indoors! The Competition went off without a hitch thanks to everyone's help and participation! (And the food was excellent, as always!)
Oct 24th MZB Heads to Souderton for part 2! Oct 22nd MZB Competes at PA State Championships! On Thursday, Oct 22, the MZB competed at the USSBA PA State Championships held at the rain-date location, North Penn High School!
Oct 15th MZB Supports Football Team! Oct 15th Spaghetti Fundraiser Dinner a Success! On Friday, October 9th, the Whitehall Music Parents Association and members of the Marching Zephyr Band held thier annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. Everyone had plenty of food including a full spaghetti plate, rolls, salad and desert. Homemade bakeds good were also enjoyed along with basket raffles and entertainment by several MZB members! Thanks to all that supported this event
Oct 6th, 2009 MZB Competes at Eastern PA Regional! On Saturday, October 3rd, the MZB performed at J.Birney Crum stadium in the USSBA Eastern PA Regionals, taking a solid second place in Group 1 Open competition! The MZB also supported the football team at their home game against Liberty HS. Check out the scores and pictures from this competition and football game!
Sept 30th, 2009 MZB Performs at First Competition! Sept 24th, 2009 MZB Prepares for Busy Weekend! The MZB is preparing for a busy weekend! On Friday, they will be out supporting the football team at the away game at Northampton HS. Northampton is not that far so come out and support Whitehall on Friday night! On Saturday, the MZB will participate in their first competition of the season at the USSBA Central Regional show hosted by Lancaster Catholic HS. Let's wish them the best of luck on thier first competition!
Sept 21st, 2009 MZB Supports Football Team at Beca Game! Sept 18th, 2009 WMPA's 1st Annual Car Show a Success! After a one day rain delay, the Whitehall Music Parents Association hosted their first annual car show on Sunday, Sept 13th on the High School parking lot! The sun was shining and car owners showed up to show off their car restoration talents. There were cars from many different eras, past and present and even a military vehicle and a bat cycle! Music and homemade food was available throughout the day thanks to all the volunteers to donated food and their time for this successful fundraiser! Looks like there will be a 2nd annual car show next year!!!
Sept 11th, 2009 WMPA Spaghetti Dinner in October! The Whitehall Music Parents Association will be hosting their annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Friday, October 9th in Fullerton at the Jefferson Park activity building! Doors open at 4:30pm. Join us for some great food and good friends! The WMPA is also taking food donations, (such as salad dressing, parmesan cheese, etc) that can be dropped off at the HS band room.
June 11th, 2009 1st Large Fundraiser of the 2009 MZB season! The WMPA and Whitehall High School will host the MUSIC-IN- MOTION band competition this fall (date pending!) This will be the first large fundraiser for the music program and it will take a lot of help from parents and students alike. Please attend the first planning meeting for this year's MUSIC-IN-MOTION home show on Wednesday, July 8th, immediately following the 7pm WMPA Parents Meeting. We will also be asking all you cooks and bakers out there for help with food donations! Please see the list of what items you can signup for!
June 10th, 2009 Help Needed for Civil War Weekend! The WMPA has the privilege this year to be the only supplier of concessions at the annual Lehigh Valley Civil War Days in the Whitehall Parkway on June 13th and 14th. Parent and Student help is needed in order to cover all the shifts necessary to make this fundraiser a success. With the additional events that the MZB and Indoor Groups will attend, the WMPA is striving to run as many large fundraisers as possible to offset these events.
June 10th, 2009 New Director Announced for Whitehall HS Instrumental Programs! As Mr Hilborn moves to the elementary school to head up the 4th and 5th grade music program, Mr Matthew Tanzos was announced as the new instrumental program director for Whitehall High School. Mr Tanzos graduated with a B.S. in Music Education from Kutztown University and was a member of the University Percussion Ensemble. He marched 3 years with the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps and 1 year with the LV Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr Tanzos was part of the Nazareth Music Department both as a student and instructor. Please welcome Mr Tanzos to the Whitehall Music Programs!

Apr 6th, 2009 Whitehall High School Hosts their annual Music In Motion indoor Show! On Saturday, March 28th, the Whitehall Music Parents Association sponsored the annual Music In Movement Indoor Show at Whitehall High School. Over 54 groups from the region performed for a full crowd of proud parents, relatives, friends and student peers. The Whitehall indoor show always seems to draw a big crowd and this year was no exception! The groups ranged from twirlers to dance teams and from percussion groups to color guard. Ages ranged from elementary to adult. The Tournament of Bands judges were on-hand to professionally score and critique all the groups, supplying helpful comments to all groups to assist in further development and improvement of each groups' performance. The entire event was planned and run by the the Music-In-Movement Committee members, Whitehall Music Parents Association and many volunteers from the Whitehall area.

Feb 14th,2009 Unexpected Passing of Percussionist, Louie Bellson One of the greats of the percussion world. Louie Bellson, unexpectedly passed away on February 14th, 2009. Please take a few moments to watch a short biography, produced in conjunction with Zildjian and Hudson Music, honoring Louie as part of the American Drummer Achievement Awards.
Feb 10th, 2009 Band Trip to Myrtle Beach Announced! Feb 8th, 2009 Students Perform at District 10 Band Festival! This past Friday, Jan 30th and Saturday, Jan 31st, Whitehall H.S. students Sarah Brodt and Steven Crammer earned the privilege to perform along with 151 other students from 54 area school districts at the 2009 District 10 Band Festival, hosted by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association!
Feb 8th, 2009 Indoor Guard Performs at First Competition of the Season! Jan 26th, 2009 Bands of America Honor Band Trip to CA! All Attendees of the Tournament of Roses parade and Bandfest in Pasadena California recently were entertained, in part, by the Bands of America Honor Band. Dec 31st, 2008 Steckel Students Sing on TV! Dec 23rd, 2008 MZB Member On National TV This New Years Day! One of our own Marching Zephyr Band members will be marching  in the Tournament of Roses parade on New Years Day! Adam Cramsey was selected as part of the 300-piece Bands of America Honor Band to perform in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California. This national parade and field band will be directed by George N. Parks, Director of the University of Massachusetts Minute Man Marching Band, and an all-star staff. In addition to the parade, the Honor Band will be a featured guest at the Tournament of Roses Bandfest, featuring the prize-winning bands of the 2009 Rose Parade performing the field shows that made them famous.
Dec 13th, 2008 Lunch with Santa a Holiday Success! On Saturday, December 13th, the Whitehall Music Parents held their annual Lunch With Santa event. Children from around the Whitehall area were treated to a rousing 'HOHO' from Santa as they enjoyed their lunch! They also had lots of fun playing games, getting their face decorated, building crafts, getting pictures with Santa and even shopping for Christmas at the Little Shoppers Shop!
Nov 25th, 2008 Three MZB Members On National TV This Thanksgiving! Three of our own Marching Zephyr Band members will be marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this Thursday! Aaron Roman, Billy Kranich and Becky Williams were selected to perform  and march with the Macy's Great American Marching Band. Honoring America's finest high school musicians, this band will be comprised of select students from each of the fifty states. The musicians are under the direction of Dr. Jon Woods, Ohio State University, and Auburn University's Dr. Richard Good. The 185 musicians will be complemented by approximately 50 flags and dancers choreographed by Greg Lagola of the famed Cadets Drum Corp of Pennsylvania.

Nov 9th, 2008 MZB Ends the Season with High Marks at USSBA Northern States Championships! The MZB ended thier season on a high note, scoring second  highest marks in their Group IIA and second highest out of all groups at the Championships! The percussion group showed they have what it takes by grabbing the caption award for Group IIA and scored highest for the show!. With one third of the MZB rookies, Mr Hilborn and the Veterans showed they can overcome all obstacles by grooming the rookies' skills this past 2008 season. A thanks goes out to all who donated their time and effort to bring this MZB season to a successful close!
Nov 7th, 2008 MZB Wows the Crowd at the USSBA National Championships! The MZB scored their highest score ever in a USSBA event over the past 12 years and the 3rd highest of any event the MZB has ever participated in. The director, Mr Hilborn couldn't have been more proud of the MZB for their performance. Several MZB parents were stopped by spectators and told how much they enjoyed the MZB show and that it was the most entertaining show they have ever seen!! Now the MZB must prepare for their final competition the Sunday, against their direct Group IIA pier bands at J Birney Crum Stadium for the USSBA Northern States Championship title!
Nov 2nd, 2008 MZB Crosses Competition Organization Lines and Takes High Honors at TOB Chapter II Championships The MZB tested thier abilities this past weekend, competing in the Tournament of Bands Chapter II Championships. Director Rich Hiborn warned that the TOB judging can be much more critical than USSBA but the MZB showed that they have what it takes, scoring the highest score among all Group II bands and taking second place among all groups competing that day! Now the MZB must prepare for one of the toughest competitions this Friday at the Nationals in Annapolis, MD.

Oct 29th, 2008 The MZB Performs and Supports Football Team at Parkland HS! Oct 29th, 2008 MZB Improves Scores at Preview of Champions and takes 1st Place! The MZB put forth some additional effort this past weekend and pulled up their current high score an additional 4 points. This will go a long way in helping to lock in their performance position at the Northern States Championships on Nov 9th. With the backdrop issues out of the way and some minor tweaking of the show by Director Rick Hilborn, the judges will have no excuses in awarding even higher scores in the coming weeks!
Oct 29th, 2008 The MZB Visits Bethlehem at the Liberty Football Homecoming Game! The Whitehall Marching Zephyr Band and the Allen High School Marching Band performed during the pre-game and halftime events at the Whitehall Home Game and Senior Night, honoring our Whitehall seniors from the football team, cheerleading squads and marhcing band!

Oct 19th, 2008 MZB Takes 1st for Group IIA at State Championships in the Land of Chocolate! The MZB holds it's own at the State Championships in Hershey, taking 1st place and all caption awards! After performing their show, the MZB took a much needed break at Hershey's Chocolate World for some entertainment and good old-fashioned chocolate treats! Now they set their sites on the Northern States and National Competitions....but first...one more regional competition next Saturday at J. Birney Crum Stadium, hosted by Quakertown High School!
Oct 18th, 2008 3 New WMPA Fundraisers Now Available! Oct 17th, 2008 Festivities abound at the Annual Whitehall High School Homecoming Game! Whitehall and Emmaus fans were treated to many festivities at the annual homecoming game this past Friday! The MZB started off the evening with the performance their award-winning show! The MZB then shared the stage with the Whitehall Middle School Concert Bands, performing the alma mater and national anthem. At half-time, all the Whitehall H.S. clubs and groups circled the track with creative and fun floats while the Emmaus Hornet Band entertained us on the field. It was a fun, busy (and dusty) night for all!
Oct 12th, 2008 Bands Show Off Their Talents at the Annual Lehigh Valley Band Day! Oct 11th, 2008 MZB Takes High Honors at Nazareth Competition This Past Saturday! The MZB proves they've got what it takes by taking high honors at the Nazareth Competition this past Saturday. Not only did they take first place and three captions in their group, they also took 2 overall caption awards AND best band of the show!! Now the MZB sets their sites on the State Competition at Hershey this coming weekend. Will the USSBA push for a change to Open class? That remains to be seen! Either way, the MZB has some stiff competition coming their way!
Oct 7th, 2008 Parent Volunteer Information Now Available Online! A new resource is now available to Event Volunteers! Chaperones, Pit/Prop and Snack Stand Volunteers can now see each event and the list of current volunteers that have committed to work at that event. Volunteers can also send messages to the volunteer coordinators to sign up for events and make changes to their volunteer commitments.
Oct 4th, 2008 Busy Saturday for the MZB - Back-to-Back Competitions! The MZB, chaperones and pit/prop crews made it through an intense and lengthy Saturday, competing at both the Northampton and Pleasant Valley shows! The MZB showed it's ability to improve quickly from week to week by increasing their scores by more than 10 points from the previous competition. The MZB also took first place in there group at both competitions!

The Whitehall Music Parents Association hosted the 38th annual Music-In-Motion USSBA show/competition this past Saturday at Whitehall High School. Under a beautiful fall sky, bands from around the region performed for an enthusiastic crowd. The Wh9itehall Marching Zephyr Band gave a great performance of their new 'Solutions' show, complete with a giant Rubik's Cube! Fans were also treated to great homemade foods, grams and items for purchase. Thanks goes out to many local businesses that continue to sponsor this event and help; keep "Music in our Schools!"
Sept 19th, 2008 MZB and Northampton Big N Band Perform Pre-Game Show at Whitehall Home Football Game! Sept 13th, 2008 MZB Performs In Their First Competition of the Season at North Penn High School! The MZB performed in their first competition of the season at North  Penn High School in Lansdale, PA. The new Rubik's Cube props were also unveiled to the delight of all that attended. The MZB performed exceptionally well and placed in their first competition. The MZB performs in exhibition next Saturday at their annual Music-In Motion home show!

Aug 24th, 2008 The Annual MZB Band Olympics The MZB took a much needed break from the hard work of  practice to complete in the annual Band Olympics. Band members broke up into teams to complete in events such as the wheel barrel race, water balloon toss and rifle throw, to name a few. The golden marching shoe was handed out to the winning team and the rainbow shoe was awarded to the team with the most spirit! The event ended with the traditional cooler dumping on Mr Hilborn!
Aug 23rd, 2008 The MZB Prepare for the new Football and Competition Season! The members of the Marching Zephyr Band have been busy the past two weeks at band camp preparing for the up-coming Football and Competition season. Come out to the Football Stadium on Thursday, August 28th at 7:30pm for a preview of this year's shows and some marching demonstrations! Aug 21st, 2008 1st WMPA Fundraiser of the season - Entertainment Books! As our first fundraiser of the MZB season, the Whitehall Hall Music Parents Association and the Marching Zephyr Band will be selling the new 2009 Entertainment Books! June 5th, 2008 Whitehall Band Annual Awards Banquet This past Friday, May 30th, members of the Marching Zephyr Band and Indoor Groups attended the annual awards banquet at Northampton Community Center. Students and parents enjoyed a great dinner, awards presentations and wrapped up the evening with some great dancing to a DJ!
June 2nd, 2008 Order Your DVD Media Package Now! May 27th, 2008 Whitehall Middle School - Night of Music! May 26th, 2008 The Whitehall Musical Groups Compete in Virginia!! This past weekend, members of Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Indoor Percussion and Wind Ensemble competed in the 2008 Fiesta-Val Invitational Music Festival in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. Events included: judged performances, a ghost tour of Colonial Williamsburg, a fun day in Busch Gardens topped off with the awards ceremony on Saturday evening in Busch Gardens!
May 22nd, 2008 Area Student Selected to Perform with the National Honor Band in 2009 Rose Parade!  Adam Cramsey, a junior at Whitehall High School, has been selected by Bands of America for the national Honor Band in the 2009 Tournament of Roses Parade. Adam was selected from among hundreds of applicants across the nation for membership in this prestigious honors ensemble.

The Dallas Brass musical ensemble received standing ovations at their performance at Whitehall High School on Tuesday, April 8. Known for their unique blend of traditional brass and a full complement of drums and percussion, the Dallas Brass created phenomenal live show featuring some of the most intricate instrument playing, humor along with some musical history.

Whitehall Music Student, Elizabeth Brodt, has recently become the FIRST WHITEHALL STUDENT EVER to make PA ALL-STATE BAND for 3 consecutive years! During Region Band, she had placed 1st in here instrumental group for all-state band auditions. In addition, Lizzie is also the 1st Whitehall High School student to make REGION BAND, REGION ORCHESTRA, and REGION CHORUS all in the same year. This is NO SMALL ACCOMPLISHMENT for any student what-so-ever. Congratulations Lizzie and good luck at All-states!

This year was his 20th year performing at Steckel and the students are always happy to have him back! Jonathan's show theme is American Heroes.

School Marching Band performed during the pre-game and halftime events at the Parkland Away Game against Whitehall. Parkland seniors were also honored during this event.
Parade through the streets of Coplay! The MZB was joined by many floats, fire engines and community groups. All participants in the parade were treated to hot dogs and soda at the end of the parade!

The USSBA could not have asked for a more beautiful day to hold this great showcase of bands for the pure enjoyment of area residence.

Civil War Days events were held at the Whitehall Parkway. The Whitehall Music Parents and Students sold assorted food and drinks at the event as a fundraiser to help support the many upcoming Whitehall Music events!
