The past weekend, The Lehigh Valley Civil War Days events were held at the Whitehall Parkway. The Whitehall Music Parents and Students sold assorted food and drinks at the event as a fundraiser to help support the many upcoming Whitehall Music events! From WFMZ News: A Lehigh County field turns into a battle ground. A Civil War Reenactment was held in Whitehall Township. WFMZ's Jackie Shutack has more. Jennifer Aldershoff: "in school we were taught what happened but we never got to experience it this is the only way to reeducate yourself."
REPORTER: An entire chapter in a U.S. History textbook comes to life in this Whitehall field...the Union versus the Confederacy...blue against gray.
Captain Jason Durante: "one guys on the hill here the other guy is on the hill w flags back and forth they're telling one another how enemy is moving."
REPORTER: Hundreds dress as soldiers and supporters, in the authentic wool uniforms and cotton dresses popular during the mid-1800's....
Rebecca hazen: "this dress is completely handmade I got it in Gettysburg."
REPORTER: Onlookers opt for modern day t-shirts and shorts, watching from the sidelines...
Lance Ziegenfuss: "it's really impressive I didnt think we'd see as much as this."
Jennifer Aldershoff: "if you look at it it's more than winning the battle you see the tactics on artillery intelligence its mind boggling."
REPORTER: Out on the battlefield, there is no set outcome - this is a generic civil war battle. But for the men fighting, it feels very real.
Michael burke (private): "we worry about the man to our left, to our right making sure they all come home with us at the end of the day."
