Local Students Team Up to Form All-Star Band! It's no band for beginners. "The Lehigh County Band" takes the best of the best from area high schools. And this Saturday, the big band is celebrating its 50th anniversary in a big way. WFMZ's Joscelyn Moes has the story. >> Reporter: At this point, it's all about precision. Band members spent the day fine-tuning. >> Reporter: making every move of their fingers and their mouths matter. >> Reporter: More than 100 young musicians make up The Lehigh County Band. >> Mark Schultheis: We met back in December and picked our best students. >> Reporter: They come from 11 different high schools with the same purpose. >> Reporter: to perform on Saturday in the band's 50th anniversary concert at Catasauqua High School. >> Lizzie Brodt: It's a lot of fun. >> Lizzie Brodt: It's really good to be able to get together with a bunch of people from different schools and play music. >> Reporter: For some of the students, it's their first time performing in a big, band. They learn new songs and play music they may not normally play. >> Jessica Zellers: My favorite is the Dixieland Jam and the Broadway. >> Reporter: Band directors from the respective high schools even get in on the fun. >> Reporter: The students, mainly juniors and seniors, have put in a lot of hours practicing. >> Matt Mizuhara: When it all comes together, it's just a really cool experience. >> Reporter: An experience they hope will play on in the hearts of those who watch. >> Again the concert is this Saturday. It starts at 2:00 at Catasauqua High School.
