Jonathan Sprout

Educates and Entertains at Steckel Elementary

This past January 18th, Jonathan Sprout performed his annual show for the Steckel Elementary School, to the delight of the students. This year was his 20th year performing at Steckel and the students are always happy to have him back! Jonathan's show theme is American Heroes.

The students were taught to sing Jonathan's songs beforehand in music class and had a great time singing along. The heroes that were featured this year were: Susan B. Anthony, Johnny Appleseed, Wilbur and Orville Wright, Neil Armstrong and Sojourner Truth.

Since his first professional appearance in 1972, Jonathan Sprout has recorded eight albums, performed more than 5,500 concerts (including 4,500 children’s concerts) and taught more than 700 songwriting workshops throughout the United States. His songs have appeared on several internationally released compilation albums. Jonathan’s seventh release, American Heroes, won critical acclaim and awards from The National Association of Parenting Publications & Parents’ Choice as a groundbreaking CD in the field of educational children’s music. A sequel, More American Heroes, has been awarded The Film Advisory Board’s Award of Excellence and Parents’ Choice Awards.

A resident of the Philadelphia, PA region, Jonathan continues to perform more than 200 elementary school assembly concerts annually. He is currently at work on a third American Heroes CD to be released in 2008.
