MZB Update 9-13-19

MZB,

It's a COMPETITION WEEK!!!  Time to take the next step in our season as we take center stage and are no longer just the pregame/halftime show.  A few important items before we look at the schedule:
  • We will begin wearing GLOVES this week (for winds and colorguard members)
  • Wind gloves are $3.50 per pair, and I recommend getting 2 of them (1 for practice and 1 for performance)
  • Colorguard gloves are $17 per pair -- they are more expensive because of the reinforcement and padding
  • Glove payments can be made using Cash, Check (payable to "Whitehall HS Band Fund") or Student Credit (if you have enough money in your fundraising account)
  • Once you bring the payment, I will give you gloves
Here is this week's schedule:

Tuesday - Rehearsal 6-9 PM

Thursday - Rehearsal 6-9 PM

Friday - HOME football game vs. Freedom ; Report time is 4:30 PM — Colorguard should report by 4:00 however, as Christmas City Studios will be coming to do photos in your uniforms; Gator/trailer and chaperones needed at band room by 5:30 PM.  We will be performing PREGAME.  Students may stay after school if you wish, and we'll again order pizza -- bring money if you wish to partake.  Also, please complete your 3rd quarter break food order form by the end of the day THURSDAY using the link emailed on 9/14/19.


Saturday - Competition @ Spring-Ford HS (400 S. Lewis Rd, Royersford, PA 19468); Detailed Battle Plan attached and below.  Truck is needed up at the lot by 1:00 PM ; Chaperones are needed at the Band Room by 2:30 PM. Spectator tickets will be $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for students, veterans and seniors over 65. You may be asked to produce verification of student status and age at the gate.  All tickets will be sold at the gates.

Please note that the Spring-Ford School District has a strict new policy concerning visitors to their campus, as follows: 
No backpacks or large purses/bags will be allowed into either stadium or sporting events inside the school districts building.  A table or area will be located outside of the venue if people choose to leave their bags there.  The School Police and Security will not monitor this area.  The best practice is to leave your bags at home, in your lockers, or in your vehicles. Small purses and persons on campus are subject to search while on District Property.

Diaper bags or bags needed for medical reasons are allowed but subject to search by Security prior to entry.

You will not be allowed into the venue without being vetting by Security.  Persons who do not cooperate with this directive, will be asked to leave the property. Thank you for your future cooperation in keeping our school district safer!

BATTLE PLAN for Saturday, September 21
Spring-Ford HS Competition
400 S. Lewis Rd, Royersford, PA 19468

**Eat a good breakfast/early lunch before you arrive!
11:15 am – School open ; Set-up for rehearsal
11:30 am – Rehearsal begins
1:15 pm – Load equipment truck; Eat lunch/snack; Change into “Partial Uniform”
3:00 pm – Depart for Spring-Ford HS
4:30 pm – Arrive at Spring-Ford HS; visit restrooms
4:45 pm – Unload truck; warm-up
6:15 pm – Whitehall MZB performance
6:45 pm – Load equipment / Change into “Civies”
8:00 pm – Back to stadium for remainder of show, visit refreshment stand for dinner
9:30 pm – Host Band performs ; ALL members MUST be in designated area of stands
9:45 pm – Awards Ceremony
10:30 pm – Depart for home
11:45 pm – Estimated arrival time home…ALL members must stay at the school until the equipment truck is completely unloaded.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

A list of things all members should bring with them for the entire day:
  • Instrument/Equipment
  • Marching Shoes
  • Under-uniform wear
  • Gloves
  • Make-up / Hair products (Colorguard)
  • Raincoat
  • Water for during practice
  • Packed lunch/snack for after practice/bus ride
  • Money for dinner at the show
  • Change of clothes (“Civies”) for after performance
  • Sweatshirt or jacket (if desired)
