MZB Update 8/16/19

MZB,

WOW!  What a phenomenal start to the season we've had these first 2 weeks of band camp!  To have this much done, this early -- and as well as it is being performed -- is incredible!  Keep up the GREAT work!

As we discussed, from here on out, our rehearsals are going to be shorter, so we won't have as much time to get things done.  Please be sure to come fully prepared and reviewed on what we have learned so far.  Movement 3 will be up next, and music and recordings are attached and up on Google Classroom.  Start to look at your part some over the weekend, as we will begin working on this in the coming days.

Here is a look at this week's schedule, which includes our first performances of the season!!:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - Rehearsal 6-9 PM

Thursday - Preview Night!  Rehearsal will run from 6:00-7:30 PM in the stadium.  Preview Night will officially kick-off at 7:30 PM until 8:00 PM with performances for family and friends -- the event is free and open to the public.  Attire for all members is your MZB Polo, Black PANTS (no shorts!), and your marching shoes.

Friday - Home Football Game vs. East Stroudsburg South ; Report time will be 4:45 PM at the band room.  Band proper should wear their under-uniform gear (PLAIN black t-shirt, long black socks, and any color mesh or cotton shorts, along with your marching shoes) ; Colorguard will wear MZB polos, black pants, and your guard shoes).  We will be performing PRE-GAME, starting around 6:45 PM, so please let family and friends know if they plan to attend.

Each member will receive 1 food item and 1 drink from the snack stand, courtesy of the WMPA.  Please be sure to place your food order by THURSDAY using the link emailed to you so they can have it prepared.

If you do not complete an order, YOU WILL NOT GET FREE FOOD...so be sure to fill it out :-)

Also for Friday, Mr. Davidson (HS Principal) has requested a small pep band to play some stand songs at the New Student Induction Ceremony on Friday from 12:30 PM-1:00 PM.  If you are able to play, please let me know by Monday.

If you still owe money for shoes and/or a polo, please take care of that by Preview Night.  Shoes are $30 and polos are $15.  Cash or check payable to "Whitehall HS Band Fund," or letting me know if you intend to use student fundraising credit (if you have it in your account) are your payment options.  Additional polos have been ordered and will arrive this week, so please be patient if your size isn't immediately available.

Lastly, attached is a ticket order form for the Philadelphia Phillies Band Night on Monday, September 9.    A few notes about this event:
  • This is an OPTIONAL activity for members.  We will perform as part of a "mass band" with other schools before the game.  If you wish to participate, you will need to purchase a $15 ticket to the game.  Just put your money (cash or check payable to "WMPA") in an envelope labeled with your name and Phillies Band Night on it, and give it to Mr. Tanzos at rehearsal.
  • We also use this event as a fundraiser -- attached is a ticket order form.  Families and friends can purchase a ticket to the game from us for $30 each.  HALF of every ticket we sell goes directly to the WMPA!  ANYONE can purchase a ticket -- so please spread the word and try to sell some tickets to whoever may wish to go to the game.
  • We will be in need of at least 3 parent chaperones for the event.  Chaperones will need to purchase a $30 ticket, be able to be at the school by 2:00 PM the day of the game, and have all proper clearances on file with the district.  If you are interested in chaperoning, please e-mail me -- I will take the first 3 eligible parents.
  • If you plan to participate in the event -- here is the link to the Phillies Band Night page, which has the music for download at the bottom of the page.  Just click on your part and print it out. https://www.mlb.com/phillies/tickets/specials/band-night?affiliateId=tdl-Philadelphia_Phillies-tickets-Philadelphia_Phillies:_Tickets:_Phillies_Theme_Nights-na-x0-Desktop-Landscape
Thank you, have a fantastic weekend, and see you again on Monday!
