MZB Update 10-12-18

MZB,

We have another unique week coming up -- as well as our home show on Saturday!  Here is a look at the upcoming schedule:

Tuesday -- Coplay Halloween Parade. We will meet directly at the parade site (between N. 9th Street and Chestnut Street in Coplay).  We usually gather near the Post Office.  Report time is 6:30 PM.  The parade begins at 7 PM and will conclude at the Coplay Saengerbund (5th and Hockendaqua St.).  Please note that the school will NOT be open before or after the parade...please take all of your uniform parts and equipment home with you and bring it back on Wednesday night.  Attached is the parade map so you can see where the route goes.  

WEDNESDAY - Rehearsal 6-9 PM  **Please return your uniform from Tuesday's parade this evening!

Thursday - Rehearsal 6-9 PM

Friday - HOME football game vs. Liberty - SENIOR NIGHT!  Report time is 4:45 PM ; Chaperones and Gator needed at band room by 5:30 PM.  We will be performing HALFTIME.  Senior parents/escorts should report to the Field House End Zone area by 6:10 PM.  Remember to complete the link by Thursday night for your free food and drink items!:

Saturday - HOME SHOW!  We will be rehearsing in the stadium in the afternoon starting at 1:30 PM.  We need to BEGIN rehearsal promptly at that time -- which means transport and set-up needs to happen before that.  I would highly recommend we all arrive closer to the 1:00 PM "School Open" time to help move the equipment up to the stadium.  After rehearsal, you will have some free time to eat dinner at the snack stand (you will get 1 free food item and 1 drink -- anything else will need to be bought, so you may want to bring some extra money).  We will also have a t-shirt vendor and grams for sale as well.  Whoever is driving the gator will be needed at 4:00 PM in the stadium to load up the pit equipment and drive it up to the band room....then be back at 7:00 PM to take it to the warm-up area.

Home show is always a fun day -- and a great opportunity to perform in front of our home crowd!  Please spread the word and promote the show to friends, family, and teachers!  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens and will be sold at the gate.  Here is the show schedule: 

Looking further ahead, Championship information and ticket ordering is now live on the Cavalcade website.  Please check out the following links -- remember that our championships are at Allentown this year at J. Birney Crum Stadium.  We will be in American Open Class on Sunday, November 11th.  By pre-ordering your tickets, YOU SAVE MONEY!  Please come out and show your support for the kids on a tremendous year -- and a last chance to see this year's show.  There's nothing quite like a Championship event...you do NOT want to miss this!!!

BATTLE PLAN for Saturday, October 20
“Music in Motion” Home Show Competition
Zephyr Stadium

1:00 pm – School open
1:30 pm – Rehearsal begins on Football field
4:00 pm – Pack up equipment and return to band room
4:30 pm – Free time to help out, eat dinner, visit vendors, enjoy performances, etc.
5:25 pm – WHS Chorale sings National Anthem / Show Begins
7:00 pm – Report to Band Room; Change into Full Uniform
7:15 pm – Warm-up
8:30 pm – Whitehall MZB performance
8:45 pm – Go to back sideline stands; Awards Ceremony
9:15 pm – Go back to Band Room; Change out of uniform, put equipment away
???? – Dismissal; Everyone is required to help out after the show!  The sooner we get everything done, the sooner we can go home!


A list of things all members should bring with them for the entire day:
  • Instrument/Equipment
  • Marching Shoes
  • Under-uniform wear
  • Gloves
  • Make-up / Hair products (Colorguard)
  • Raincoat
  • Water for during practice
  • Sweatshirt or jacket
  • Money for additional items at refreshment stand / vendors
