MZB Update 8-10-18

Congratulations on successfully completing week 1 of band camp!  Off to a great start...let's be sure to keep the momentum up as we head to week 2 and begin putting Gazelles on the field.  Please have the entire Gazelles music completely memorized by Monday!

Week 2 mirrors this past week: Monday through Thursday rehearsals are 3-9 PM (with dinner break from 5-6:15 PM).  Friday is 9 AM -12 Noon with optional activity (Kickball Game!) after practice until 2 PM.  A reminder that it is SPIRIT WEEK!  Here are the themes for each day:
Monday - Tie-dye
Tuesday - Superheroes
Wednesday - College day
Thursday - Twin Day
Friday - Sectional shirt day (see the bulletin board for your color)

Shoes and band polos have been ordered and are expected to arrive in the next week or so.  Cost for the polo is $15 ; Shoes are $31.  Please pay upon picking up these items.  You may use cash, check (payable to "Whitehall HS Band Fund"), or Student Credit (if you have any in your fundraising account).

A reminder that orders for our official MZB Apparel and Member Jacket sales are due on FRIDAY, August 17.  Please note that all of these items are purely OPTIONAL!  If you would like to purchase some MZB swag to add to your ensemble, check out the order forms, including the jacket descriptions.  If you have money in your student account, you may use that money -- attached is the current balance sheet.

For your reference, attached are parts for WHS Fight Song and Cheering for Whitehall, which are 2 of our football songs that must be memorized by the first game.

Lastly, a reminder about Philadelphia Phillies Band Night tickets, which are due on August 30.
  • This is an OPTIONAL activity for members.  We will perform as part of a "mass band" with other schools before the game.  If you wish to participate, you will need to purchase a $15 ticket to the game.  Just put your money (cash or check payable to "WMPA") in an envelope labeled with your name and Phillies Band Night on it, and give it to Mr. Tanzos at rehearsal.
  • We also use this event as a fundraiser -- attached is a ticket order form.  Families and friends can purchase a ticket to the game from us for $30 each.  HALF of every ticket we sell goes directly to the WMPA!  ANYONE can purchase a ticket -- so please spread the word and try to sell some tickets to whoever may wish to go to the game.
  • We will be in need of at least 3 parent chaperones for the event.  Chaperones will need to purchase a $30 ticket, be able to be at the school by 2:00 PM the day of the game, and have all proper clearances on file with the district.  If you are interested in chaperoning, please e-mail me -- I will take the first 3 eligible parents.
